Governance
The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation is advised by a distinguished international Board and a Scientific Oversight Group. IHME also has two Advisory Panels that provide guidance on specific areas of IHME’s research. These groups oversee IHME’s ongoing research activities to ensure their contribution to improving the health of populations.
Board
The Board of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation advises the Institute Director and oversees IHME's activities to ensure their contribution to improving the health of populations. The Board is comprised of leading figures in the field of public health. It meets once a year to review the progress of the Institute's research direction.

Scientific Oversight Group
The purpose of the Scientific Oversight Group (SOG) is to advise the Board of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation on the advancement of its research agenda. The SOG meets once a year and reviews the totality of IHME’s ongoing research in program areas. The members of the SOG represent a range of high-level scientific expertise. Members serve for a three-year term and can be renewed for an additional one to three years.
Effective Intervention Coverage Advisory Panel
The Effective Intervention Coverage Advisory Panel members represent a range of expertise, including development policy, evaluation and measurement of health interventions and outcomes, and health information management.
