Bio
Michael Hanlon, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington. He manages research teams analyzing how health care is financed across countries and the costs of providing care. He directs IHME’s field work in multiple countries, including Colombia, Ghana, Kenya, Lebanon, Uganda, and Zambia.
Originally from Anchorage, AK, Dr. Hanlon earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University and his PhD in Economics from the University of Washington. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Hanlon was one of Amazon.com’s first employees, working in a variety of professional and technical roles from 1995 to 2001.
