Maggie Niujoined the Post-Graduate Fellowship program in 2010 and worked withthe Demographics: Mortality and Population research team, forecasting age-specific mortality rates for both sexes.
In 2008 and 2010, IHME released estimates that showed an accelerated rate of decline in under-5 mortality in 13 regions in the world, including all regions in sub-Saharan Africa. For the first time in recent history, the number of children dying worldwide has fallen below 8 million.
Upon completion of her fellowship, she joined the Department of Statistics at Pennsylvania State University as Assistant Professor and Research Associate.
