The mission of the Centre for Global Health Research (CGHR), St. Michael's Hospital, University of Toronto, Canada, is to conduct high-quality research that advances global health.
From 2009 to 2011, researchers at CGHR collaborated with IHME on the Disease Control Priorities Network effort in India. They evaluated the effect of the growing investment of public funds on efficiency and outcomes for disease control and health systems. The CGHR team conducted focused policy reviews of major national health programs in India, and examined the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of available technology.
They also considered current gaps and barriers to scaling up effective coverage of these interventions, and assessed the potential for research and development to reduce the burden of disease. For this project, researchers conducted systematic analysis of diseases for evidence-based priority setting and program evaluation and undertook a subnational analyses.
