The INCLEN Trust
Collaborator
The INCLEN Trust in Lucknow, India, is committed to promoting equitable health care in resource-poor settings.
INCLEN was a collaborating member of the Population Health Metrics Research Consortium (PHMRC). The project was funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as part of the Gates Grand Challenges in Global Health initiative #13 to develop technologies that permit quantitative assessment of population health status.
INCLEN researchers helped to implement a validated gold standard verbal autopsy study using the instrument used by the Sample Registration System of India. These verbal autopsies were administered by interviewing family members of deceased individuals whose causes of death had been verified through hospital records.
The data were analyzed in conjunction with data from the Philippines, Tanzania, Mexico, and India to enhance the verbal autopsy instrument design of the PHMRC. INCLEN researchers collaborated on the PHMRC in 2011.
