International Comparisons Program, World Bank
Collaborator
The International Comparisons Program (ICP) of the World Bank is a worldwide statistical partnership to collect comparative price data and compile detailed expenditure values of countries’ gross domestic products and to estimate purchasing power parities of the world’s economies.
Since 2009, ICP and IHME have been engaged in the Health Sector Price Project. IHME is giving input to the development of a survey instrument that ICP is developing to implement in more than 160 countries to gather information on three aspects of the health sect – human resources, pharmaceuticals, and capital/infrastructure.
The data will be used to quantify the purchasing power parities for health. A particular interest of the consultation is determining the actual indicators and methodological approach that can best be used in combination to produce the health-specific purchasing power parities.
