REGARDS
Collaborator
REGARDS (The Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke) project, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, is a national study focusing on learning more about the factors that increase a person's risk of having a stroke. REGARDS is based at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
In 2009, IHME began consulting with the REGARDS study team on specific project details for both the Tracking Disparities in the Effective Delivery of Health Services and the Monitoring Disparities in Chronic Conditions projects in order to benefit from their knowledge and ideas about survey data used to discern local differences in health trends in the US.
In addition, the US County Performance research team has included REGARDS data to estimate the prevalence, diagnosis, treatment, and control of cardiovascular risk factors at the county level in the US.
