Collaborator
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine is dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care.
In 2007, collaborators at the UCSF School of Medicine began working with IHME researchers to gather data and perform analyses on the effectiveness of health system response to the challenge of diabetes care across different countries and examine inequalities in diabetes care. This research is part of ongoing work by IHME to understand how well health systems are performing so that decision-makers can most effectively target policies and interventions.
In 2008, the same collaborators worked with IHME researchers to assess the performance of DOTS (directly observed therapy, short-course) on overall treatment success of tuberculosis and on case detection. Sir Richard G. A. Feachem, Professor of Global Health at UCSF, chairs the IHME Advisory Panel for the Health Financing research team and is a member of IHME’s Scientific Oversight Group.
