Collaborator
The University of the Witwatersrand, commonly known as Wits, situated in Johannesburg, is internationally renowned for its commitment to academic and research excellence.
IHME and the Wits School of Public Health engaged in the Priority Cost Effective Lessons for Systems Strengthening (PRICELESS SA) project in South Africa as part of the Disease Control Priorities Network. Information from the previous version of Disease Control Priorities has been widely used by health and finance policymakers, international development agencies, and academic institutions.
The PRICELESS SA project aims to take these tools a step further and apply the Disease Control Priorities Network principles to country settings, specifically South Africa. The PRICELESS SA project successfully engaged several South African stakeholders who have been instrumental in identifying a significant research agenda, a series of knowledge champions, and three priority areas for analysis. These foci are: chronic disease, maternal and child health care, and district hospitals. The PRICELESS SA project continues to work in conjunction with the Disease Control Priorities Network.
