TrainingPost-Bachelor Fellowship (PBF) Next application is Autumn 2008OverviewProvides a unique opportunity for recent college graduates with strong quantitative skills to train with faculty and senior researchers on a variety of global heath projects. The PBF program combines advanced on-the-job training and mentoring, and provides the option of pursuing a fully-funded Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. Each PBF is involved in one or two of our areas of work. PBFs contribute to all aspects of research projects, including building statistical models, writing statistical code, analyzing large datasets, and preparing presentations for conferences and manuscripts for publication. Through research, training workshops, coursework, and field experience in developing countries, the PBF program aims to produce the next generation of scholars and leaders in global health measurement and evaluation. The PBF Program involves a minimum two-year commitment commencing with training and orientation in early September. PBFs have the option of pursuing a fully-funded MPH in Global Health, starting in the second year of the fellowship. The MPH track of the PBF program takes three years to complete. Fellows receive a monthly stipend plus medical benefits, libraries, and recreation facilities at the University of Washington. The PGF Program provides a unique opportunity for individuals with graduate-level training and a strong quantitative background to conduct in-depth, methodological research on a variety of global health topics with the mentorship of faculty and senior researchers. Through research, training workshops and mentorship, the program is intended to enhance the analytical skills of future academics and professional leaders in the field of global health measurement and evaluation. ResearchPost-Graduate Fellows will contribute directly to the overall IHME research agenda and will be involved in all aspects of projects including analyzing and synthesizing existing data, catalyzing new data collection, building statistical models and validating new analytical methods, interpreting of findings, and reporting and disseminating results. Post-Graduate Fellows will be involved in research in one of five key areas of work: Health Outcomes, Health Services, Resource Inputs, Decision Analytics, and Evaluations. Salary and BenefitsAppointments are for one year with the possibility of renewal for a second year upon mutual agreement. The salary is $50,000 for the first year and subject to UW merit driven increases the second year.
